| Taekwondo for Adults |
We train our students to the best of their ability. Some students are already in shape when they begin, others may be overweight, under-toned or simply ready to get back into the workout habit. Almost every student has limited flexibility when they begin and can't believe they will ever be able to kick so high or bend so low.
Adults can start at any age. We've even had some adults who started as late as their 70s and have still been able to achieve the rank of black belt. We treat every student as an individual and never compare one student to another. Our instructors are trained and certified through the American Taekwondo Association to uphold the strictest of standards and they will be there every step of the way to guide our students to success. All we ask of an individual student is that they do their best every time!
Some of the benefits you can expect from training in Taekwondo are:
| Fitness |
| The principals of Taekwondo techniques are based on the design of the human body. Power comes from the larger, more powerful muscles developed in the torso. Speed comes from the fast, agile muscles developed in the arms and legs. As you progress in Taekwondo, you will learn to coordinate this speed and power, and develop a concentration to focus all of your body's strength into a small, hard striking surface like the edge of the hand or the heel of the foot. |
| Self-Defense |
| Speed and Power are developed through self-defense techniques. Taekwodo students will learn how to assist each other in simulated self-defense situations. They will learn where an attacker is vulnerable in both the mind and body. The results can be incredible, no matter what the size ratio of attacker and defender. When a student realizes that they can successfully ward off an attacker, their confidence will grow. Confidence alone is usually enough to deter most potential attackers. |
| Self-Confidence |
| This does not come naturally for many people, but self-confidence can be developed over a period of time. As a student accomplishes new goals in Taekwondo, their confidence level increases. Taekwondo instills a sense of discipline and self-confidence that can carry over to all aspects of their life. |
